Carol's stitching

This week Carol stitched a little bit. When she told me she wanted to stitch something, I told her to pick up one of her unfinished project, but she wanted to start something new. She wanted it to be a kit, s0 I helped her choose one from her stash and finally came up with Forever Friends ~ Bouquet of Flowers. She's doing it on 32ct Lugana 1 over 2 with the threads that came in the kit. As I couldn't believe she was stitching...I took picture of her to remember this moment

Esta semana a Carol se le antojo bordar, fueron sólo unos poco minutos pero bueno al menos lo intento. Queria empezar algo nuevo y no retomar alguno de sus proyectos que dejo a medias; estuvimos viendo que podia y finalmente eligio un kit de Forever Friends llamado Bouquet of Flowers ("Bouquet de Flores"). Lo esta realizando en Lugana 32ct 1x2 con los hilos que vinieron en el kit.

Hipp Hipp Hooray...it's your birthday today!!

Today is Carol's birthday...although we are twins, we don't share the same birth date. Carol was born on 27th at 11.50pm and me on the 28th at 12.05...so that means her birthday is today and mine is tomorrow :). We are turning 30 this year *sigh*...yes, we are ooold.

Hoy es el cumpleaños de Carol...aunque somos gemelas no cumplimos años el mismo día. Ella nació el 27 unos minutos antes de medianoche y yo ya pasadas las 12...así que eso hace que su cumpleaños sea hoy y el mío mañana 28. Este año cumplimos 30 años..uff que vieja me siento :S

Autumn

Thank you all so much for worrying about us after Peru's earthquake...we really appreciate it :)

Muchas gracias por preocuparse por nosotras luego del terremoto que afecto nuestro país, realmente lo apreciamos :)

I didn't stitch almost all week because of the earthquake, but yesterday I manage to finish the small freebie I was going to stitch during week days. I'm thinking of finishing it as a flat-fold, but that will be later on as in this part of the planet, Autumn at the end of March.

No he bordado casi nada durante la semana, he estado bastante distraida con todo lo que esta pasando en el país. Pero ayer logré terminar lo que se suponía queria terminar antes del fin de semana. Mi plan es terminarlo como un "flat-fold" pero eso será más adelante ya que en esta parte del planeta otoño comienza a fines de marzo.

Eartquake in Peru

Yesterday around 7pm an earthquake of 7.9 shook the coast of Peru. We are ok...thank you all for asking. We were at work when this happened, it's normal to have earthquakes in Peru so we didn't make a big deal of it until we stepped outside and we saw the chaos. Communication was interrupted so we couldn't talk to our parents until we got home around 9.30pm.There are more than 300 deaths, a lot of families have lost their homes; Goverment is taking actions to help those afectted by the earthquake. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

En la noche de ayer la costa de Perú fue sacudida por un terremoto de 7.9. Cuando esto sucedía Carol y yo estabamos en el trabajo, al principio pensamos que era un temblor más de los muchos que hay en Lima, no fue hasta que salimos a la calle y vimos los postes de la luz inclinarse por el movimiento y la gente entrar en pánico que nos dimos cuenta que esto ya no era un temblor. Felizmente en casa siempre nos enseñaron a mantener la calma en estas situaciones y no entrar en pánico pues es lo peor, así que nos mantuvimos serenas lo unico malo es que la comunicacion se interrupio y no pudimos hablar con nuestros padres hasta que llegamos a casa alrededor de las 9.30 pm. Hay más de 300 muertos y muchas familias damnificadas, ya el gobierno tomo medidas al respecto y esperemos que la ayuda les llegue pronto.

Weekend progress

Well I finally decide to continue stitching on Sarah Kay; I did not make a lot of progress, just finished the window on the background. I've decided that this design is going to be my weekend wip and on week days I'll stitch on a smaller designs that I could finish in 4 hours, because I can only stitch for a hour or so on those days. This week, Monday thru Thursday I'll work on a freebie from San-Man Originals and on the weekend I'll pick up again Sarah Kay.

So here is my progress on Sara Kay (I have no idea why the fabric looks pink on the picture it's actually white).

Este fin de semana continue bordando en el diseño de Sarah Kay; no hay mucho progreso sólo logre terminar la ventana. He decidido que voy a tratar de bordar todos los dias de la semana, pero como durante la semana sólo puedo hacerlo en las noches durante una hora más o menos trabajaré durante esos días en proyectos pequeños. Está semana he elegido bordar un gráfico gratis de San-Man Originals y ya el fin de semana contuare con Sarah Kay. Acá les muestro como voy con Sarah Kay...

SBEBB Freebie Exchange for Terry

Now that my partner on the SBEBB Freebie exchange has received her exchange I can show what I made for her :) It's a freebie by Plum Pudding Needleart and I finished it as a small pincushion. I was getting a little bit worried because it took more than 2 weeks for the package to arrive to Terry.

Ya que mi compañera de intercambio recibio su paquete, les puedo mostrar lo que hice para ella. El tema era bordar un patrón gratis y terminarlo de alguna forma; yo elegí bordar este freebie de Plum Pudding Needleart y lo terminé como un pequeño cojín. Estaba un poco preocupada pues el paquete tardo más de 2 semanas en llegar a su destino, pero bueno ya llego a Terry :)

Exchange from Marika :)

Lookie look what I got in the mail today :) ...a lovely package from Marika who was my exchange partner on the SBEBB Freebie Exchange. This is the first time I participate on an exchange so I was thrilled when I got home from work and saw a package from Finland waiting for me. Marika made me beautiful notebook with my initial stitch on it, I love the colors she chose it. Carol loved it too she wanted to keep it...but I said no way it's MINE! *lol*

She also send me some extra goodies...a cute chart from Dragon Dreams that was on my wish list, an Atalie thread "Cyclamen", a notepad, a bookmark, a postcard and a chocolate *yummy*!!

Al llegar hoy a casa me esperaba un paquete que habia viajado desde Finlandia. Recibí de Marika este lindo cuaderno en el que bordo la inicial de mi nombre en la tapa del mismo, esta muy lindo y los colores que eligio para hacerlo son perfectos para mí :) . A Carol le encanto también, se lo quería quedar...le dije ni loca te lo doy hazte el tuyo!!! jijiji

Este es el primer intercambio en el que participo y la verdad lo he disfrutado mucho así que definitivamente no será el último.

A few answers and a small finish

First of all I would like to answer some question that were made on my previous post:

Ann, Sylvie: The stitch count for the Oriental Lady is 87h x 36w...thanks for the suggestions about finishing her as a bookmark but I think I'll take Judith's idea and finish her as a small bag, but first I have to find the right fabic to make it :)

Jenn: No, I'm not going to stitch the side panels (symbols/words) just the lady :)

Chiloe: Saque el la foto del WIP de mi hermana, pues ella ha perdido un poco el interes en el punto cruz...le gusta mucho ver lo que hago e incluso lo que hacen las demás pero como que no tiene ganas de tomar una aguja y ponerse a bordar. Supongo que es cuestión de tiempo...por ahora disfruta mucho salir y tener una vida social muy activa ;)

Some of you asked what I was going to stitch next...well I stitch this small SB freebie called Teri's Sheep and finished it as a scissor fob. On the back I stitched our names, it's a gift so in case the recipient reads my blog I've blurred her name. I guess I'll continue stitching on Sarah Kay now or maybe not ;)

Ayer terminé un pequeño scissor fob (buscatijeras ¿?). El diseño que emplee es un freebie de Shepherd's Bush llamado "Teri's Sheep"; es un regalo por lo que en la parte de atrás lo personalicé con mi nombre y el de la destinataria (que lo he puesto borroso por si lee mi blog). Bueno supongo que ahora debo continuar bordando Sarah Kay ... ya veremos :)

Oriental Beauty

Thank you all for your comments on my previous post...I did follow your advice and continued working on the Oriental Lady. And here she is finished; I'm still not happy with the colors on her robe but I think overall she looks nice. There is a lot of backstitch in this little design...it took me the whole afternoon to finish it!!! No idea how I'm going to finish it...I'll have to think about it a little bit.

Gracias por sus comentarios en mi entrada anterior...seguí el consejo de algunas y continué bordando en la mujer oriental y aquí la ven ya terminada. Sigo descontenta con los colores de su traje pero creo que igual se ve bien. Hay un montón de "backstitch", me tomó practicamente toda la tarde hacerlo. No estoy muy segura cómo la voy a terminar...tendré que pensarlo un poco.
