First cross stitch finish of the year

Last week I had my first cross stitch finish of 2018! My goal for this year is to at least have one finish a month, and like I said this is the first one of the year *yay*

In this part of the world we are in summer and it's really HOT, so this was a perfect little project to work on during this hot summer evenings. The design is a freebie by The Snowflower Diaries and you can download it from her blog. I'm still not sure how I want to finish it, but I'm sure I will find some inspiration soon °Ü°

Design: Summer by The Snowflower Diaries
Stitched on 32ct Antique Cotton Linen (R&R Reproduction) with DMC threads
Stitch count: 70w x 77h
Started: 01. January. 2018
Finished: 27. January. 2018

After finishing Summer, I decided to make a small birthday gift for Fernando (he's turning 40 this year). I wanted the design to feature a cactus so I went searching on Etsy and found a super cute SAL by Fuzzy Fox Designs called Prickly but Cute. The SAL started on August of last year and so far 7 small cacti have been released. For Fernando's gift I chose to stitch Miguel and Chloe, and here is my start on Miguel....isn't he adorable ♥-♥ !!!!

Also last week, I crocheted a little bit and finish a unicorn rattle. The design is from Yulia Mozhaiska. It was a quick and fun little project.

Pattern: Sleepy Unicorn Rattle by Yulia Mozhaiska
Yarn: 100% Cotton
Hook: 2.5mm
Started: 22. January. 2018
Finished: 26. January. 2018

Until next week! Happy crafting!!!

WIPocalypse - January update

It's time to show my progress on my WIPocalypse projects.

This month I've worked on three pieces. Two HAED, Ice Princess and QS Snowflake Wonder, and started Into the Jungle the new SAL by The Frosted Pupkin Stitchery.

Progress as of January 7th

The question for this month is:

"January 27 – What SAL’s are you participating in this year? and If you are participating in the Olympic Stitching Challenge, what challenge are you accepting?  What are your goals?"

This year I will be participating in two SAL (at least for now). The first one is Into the Jungle by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery of which I already finished the first block and the other one is Farmhouse Christmas by Little House Needleworks.

And no, I won't be participating in the Olympic Stitching Challenge.

Into the Jungle SAL ~ January

I signed up for The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery's 2018 Stitch-A-Long. Lately, their designs where not appealing to me but the theme for this year is jungle animals and the teasers they showed were cute so I decided to give it a go.

I bought the kit and also the needleminder that they designed for this SAL.

January's block was release on the 15th and I stitched mine on the weekend. The first animal is a cute sloth. The only thing I changed was that I made him with a smile.

Will be back on the weekend with a WIPocalypse update.

Last week was very busy!

I had very little stitchy/crafting time since my last update.

Last week my daughter turned 7 and I was really busy getting this ready for her party. It was a really small party just family and two of her close friends but still it kept me busy all week.

My sister Carol and my mom helped a LOT with the organization. Thankfully my daughter enjoyed her birthday and was really happy with everything °Ü°

Since the theme of her birthday was unicorns. I decided to make a little unicorn amigurumi for her. MariaFe loves pink so I made the eyes pink and added eyelashes and blush *Ü*

I'm really happy with the way it turned out and she loves it ♥

On Sunday, I finally was able to pick up my needle and add a few hundred stitches to Ice Princess. Hoping to finish her before the end of 2018.

Enjoy your week! We'll be back with a new update soon °Ü°

2018 Wipocalypse: Kick Off Day

Since I want to start blogging again, I decided to participate in this year's WIPocalypse. Today is the kick off day!

"January 7 – Introduce yourself, your projects, and any goals you have for the year!"

My name is Carla and I live in Lima - Peru. I'm a mom of a almost 7 year girl and love cross stitching and crocheting.

I participated in a couple of WIPocalypse many years ago and signed up to participate again this year to see if I can finish or at least make a lot of progress on some of my current wips and two new projects I want start this year .

My first is Ice Princess by Heaven and Earth Designs.  I started this piece in 2014 and it will be a gift for my daughter.

The second piece I want to finish is SO-G39 Alphabet Learning by Soda Stitch. This was my New Year, New Start of 2017. Just a few more letter to add and it will be done!

Next is HAED I started last year called QS Snowflake Wonder. I know I won't finish it this year but I want to finish the first 3 pages (top row pages).

My last wip is Black Hat Society by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery. My goal is to finish it before Halloween so I can display it this year.

And two other projects I will be starting this year are Into the Jungle by The Pumpkin Stitchery, and Farmhouse Christmas by Little House Needleworks. I want to keep up with the SALs and finish them both this year.

Here we go again °Ü°

I'm going to start blogging again...let see if this time I can stick with it ;P

My stitching time for the last 2-3 years has been very limited, but I still managed to finish a couple of projects each year (here are the links for my 2016 and 2017 finishes)

For my "2018 New Year, New Start", I chose a small freebie called Summer by The Snowflower Diaries. I chose a small design because this year I want to finish projects and not just stitch so unless I finish one of the larger pieces I'm stitching, I'll only start small designs  that I can actually finish within this year.

Will be back next week with another update*Ü*
