New project

This past week I've not been in the mood to stitch, I just felt tired after work and just wanted to sleep. I rested a lot during the weekend so today I felt like starting a new project, this time is a little gift for my mom. This is my progress so far; it's a small design so I hope to finish it quickly.

Here is Charlie...

Here is a pillow I made on Sunday. I chose a blue fabric similar to the bow-tie Charlie is using . This pillow is hand-sewed because I'm not very talented with the sewing machine

Stitching Days

Design: Stitching Days by Glory Bee (freebie)
Fabric: 28ct White Lugana
Threads: DMC 223, 369, 598, 3716
Started/Finished: 18. May. 2007

I found this freebie a while ago on the Glory Bee website; I liked the design but not the colors that were call for it...so I saved the chart and said that I'd do a color conversion in the near future. One day, while visiting Lena-Lou's blog I saw it stitched but with this color conversion...I loved it so decided to do mine using similar colors. I did the stitching and finishing on Friday evening, approximately 5 hours of work. The pink fabric you see on the pic is the one I used for the back.
Today I finished sewing Charlie Bear as a pillow, I'll post a photo of it tomorrow because I can't find my camera right now

Charlie Bear

Design: Charlie Bear by Margaret Sherry
Fabric: 16ct Aida
Magazine: WOCS #122 (April 2007)
Started: 05. May. 2007
Finished: 17. May. 2007

Yesterday while waiting for some friends to come over to visit, I finished Charlie Bear. I left out some backstich on his snout because I think he looks better this way and also didn't stitch his name. I want to finish it as a small pillow, I think I have the perfect fabric for it...I'll post a pic when it's all done, my plan is to make it this weekend...we'll see.

I've been tagged

I've been tagged by Deb in CT and Cheryl, and these are the rules:
1) Each player starts with 8 random facts/habits about themselves
2) People who are tagged write a blog post about their own 8 random things and post these rules
3) At the end of your blog you need to tag 8 people and post their names
4) Don't forget to leave them a comment and tell them they are tagged, and to read your blog.

OK lets see...these are my 8 random things:

1. The longest time Carol (my twin sister) and I have been apart has been 6 months, when she went to Spain to take some design courses.
2. I'm obsessed with chocolate .
3. I have a degree in Dentistry but never actually worked as a dentist.
4. People always think I'm a lot younger than I really am, they think I'm 22-23 and I'm actually almost 30 .
5. I own along with my siblings and embroidery and print screen workshop.
6. People think I'm snobby but the reality is I'm shy.
7. I've lived in Houston, TX when I was little and went back there in 2002 almost 15 years later.
8. I only stitch at night, even on weekends.

Almost everybody has been tagged already, so I won't tag anyone; but if you want to respond this feel free to do so and let me know so I can visit you blog and read it.

SBQ - Exchanges

How do you choose a project for an exchange? Do you pick solely on what you know of the taste of the recipient or are there other reasons you pick the piece you do?

I've never participated in one before...but I'm hoping to change that soon.

New start

I still don't feel like stitching on my current WIPs, so yesterday I started a new project. I browsed through some of my magazines and found this cute little bear, once stitched I'm going to finish it as a small pillow. This is my progress after two evenings.

Scissor fob #2

Today I finished Carol's scissor fob. I used the same design, but instead of a striped sheep I stitched a checked one. I couldn't find her scissor so I used mine for the photo.

SBQ - WIPs and UFOs

How many WIPs do you have? How many UFOs do you have? When does a WIP become a UFO?

I don't have a lot of WIPs, just 2: The Guardians and Sarah Kay (design from Cross Stitcher mag.), I've put only a few stitches on both designs but hopefully soon I'll change that . And UFOs I just have 1: Richard by MVS and the reason it's a UFO is just that I got bored of it.

Scissor fob

Design: ABC Sheep by Shepherd's Bush (freebie)
Fabric: 28ct White Lugana
Started/Finished: 29. April. 2007

Today I made my first scissor fob...oh and my first tassel...they're not perfect but I still think they look great. I finished stitching it on Sunday but did the finishing today. The sheep and little flower are from a Shepherd's Bush freebie called "ABC Sheep"; I added herringbone stitches for the border. Carol thought it was cute and asked me to do one for her, but instead of the little flower she wanted her initial for the back. I'll start stitching it today and make the scissor fob on the weekend.
