A couple of finishes and progress

After a little hiatus I finally picked up my needles and started working on my cross stitch pieces.

Since my last post, I finished two projects. The first one is "Viva la Vida" by Barbara Ana Designs, I started this design on December of last year, days before I went on a vacation to Mexico with my sister and our kids, as a way to commemorate our first trip to that country.
I really love the way it turned out!  I did everything as charted except the skin colors, for mine I used DMC 951 and DMC 3856 for the shadows.

Design: Viva la Vida by Barbara Ana Designs
Stitch count 89w x 138h
Fabric: 32ct Chocolate Mil Lugana (Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie)
Threads: DMC
Started: 18. December. 2018
Finished: 15. June 2019

The second piece I finished was Ice Princess by Heaven and Earth Designs. This was a freebie design that was posted on HAED's website many years ago, the original design had an owl on one of the princess' hand but I was not a fan so I cropped it off. I started this piece on 2015 when my daughter was 4 years old and a huge fan of Frozen, she's not into that movie anymore but she likes the design and is happy that it's done and that it will soon be hanged in her bedroom ;)

Design: Ice Princess by Heaven and Earth Designs
Stitch count 170w x 233h
Fabric: 25ct Lambswool Jobelan (1 over 1, full cross)
Threads: DMC
Started: 09. October. 2015
Finished: 24. June 2019

After I finished this pieces I lost my stitch bug but I did add a few stitched on a couple of pieces.

One of the projects I worked on was Sans Souci by Long Dog Samplers, you can see in my previous post that I was almost done with page 3. That page is now done and made a start on page 4.

The designs has a total of 9 pages so  I'm not even 50% done with it. I will try to work on it on a regular basis, because I feel I make a lot of progress on each stitchy session and I don't have to change colors constantly.

Another piece I worked on was Pennywise by Alisa Okneas. I'm missing a few color for this design so it will be put away for a few days until I get them.

Hopefully I'll finish it before the second part of the movie "IT" ;)

At the beginning of the  year I started a YouTube channel about my cross stitch. The videos are in Spanish but if you are interested in watching here is a link to my latest video.

Punch of Color ~ Day 80

Yesterday I reached day 80 for the 100 days of HAED challenge.
This is how it looks so far...

Like I said before, I'm only doing the black outline for this challenge and so far I've completed all the black for the first 8 pages (6,301 stitches)

Oops! I dissappeared again!

I've been super busy lately and blogging completely slipped my mind :P

I'm still working on Punch of Color Girls 10 for the 100 days of HAED challenge. There have been several days where I only added one stitch to this projects but so far I've not misses a single day stitching on it...which is great!

Here is my progress after 70 days...

Day 40 and a Baby Whale

Last Saturday was day 40 of the 100 days of HAED challenge. This time around I didn't have much time for cross stitching so I had very little progress.

Most days I only added 1 stitch just to be able to stay in the challenge.

What kept me occupied most of last week was a baby whale I had to finish for a nursery.

The mother, an old friend of my sister from university, commissioned me to make a humpback whale for her baby's ocean themed nursery.

 Pattern:  Baby Humpback Whale by One Woof Dog
Yarn: 100% Cotton
Hook: 4mm (G)
Started: 05. August. 2018
Finished: 10. August. 2018

I love this whale and I think is the perfect size for cuddles. Here is a pic of my 7-year-old holding it.

I'm still working on the small amigurumi I'm doing for my daughter's classmates. I'm a little behind with my plans, hopefully, I can catch up this weekend.

A doll called Maria and progress on the challenge

A couple weeks ago I was asked to do a doll with olive skin and I came up with this cutie

I've called her Maria, like my daughter. She kind of reminds me of Moana so I made her a dress with colors that remind me of the ocean :)

Yarn: 100% Cotton
Hook: 4mm (G)
Started: 20. July. 2018
Finished: 23. July. 2018

Yesterday was day 30 for the 100 days of HAED challenge. I'm very pleased that I'm keeping up with the challenge, some days I just added 1 stitch to the piece but 1 stitch is still progress, right?

In the last 10 days I added 1,198 stitches to the piece and most of those stitches were done on Sunday.

Last week's update

Winter break just started for schools here in Peru and my daughter had a dance presentation on Friday. She and her second grade classmates danced a zamacueca (an Afro-Peruvian dance) ....they did a wonderful job!!!

Here they are all dress up and ready to perform (Maria Fernanda is the fourth one from right to left)

A small extract of their dance...

As mentioned in my last post, I usually finish one amigurumi per week. Last week's finish is a cute penguin. This time I made him in royal blue  and I think he turned out super cute ❣❣

I love his big head and rosy cheeks *Ü*

Pattern:  Pen-Pen the Penguin by Tapanee Chaovanavatee
Yarn: 100% Cotton
Hook: 4mm (G)
Started: 09. July. 2018
Finished: 17. July. 2018

💗💗💗💗💗💗💗

On Saturday I completed 10 more days of stitching for the "100 days of HAED challenge". There were some days that I just picked it up for less than 15 minutes because I was just too tired to stitch.

An amigurumi finish and progress for HAED's challenge

I usually make one amigurumi a week and here is the one I finished last week: Bobble the Sheep.

I think he turned out ADORABLE ❣️❣️ For his body the designer used bobble stitch and I love the texture that it gives to the sheep's wool.

Pattern:  Bobble the Sheep by Alyssa Voznak
Yarn: 100% Cotton
Hook: 4mm (G)
Started: 27. June. 2018
Finished: 03. July. 2018

I'm trying to be more constant with my cross stitch like I used to, so when I heard about the "100 days of HAED challenge" I signed up immediately.

So far things are going great, I've stitched at least half an hour every single day since July 2.

The design I chose is Punch of Color Girls #10 by Hannah Lynn, and I'm stitching it 1 over 1 full cross on 25ct Lugana (Easy Count)

Here is my progress for the first 10 days of the challenge:

A wolf and a new challenge

Last night I finished another letter from my Soda Stitch piece: Alphabet Learning (SO-G39). I'm stitching it on 32ct Dirty Belfast Linen with Anchor threads.

This piece was my 2017 New Year New start and I only have 3 more letter to add and it will be DONE!!! *Ü*

I have very little time to cross stitch but I still signed up for the 100 Days of HAED Challenge on Facebook. The challenge consists in adding at least one stitch to a HAED piece for 100 days (sign up closed on Sunday).

For this challenge I chose a new start: Punch of Color Girls 10 by Hannah Lynn.I've been wanting to start this one forever and the challenge was the perfect excuse *Ü*

My plan is to do all the black outline first and then fill in the colors. My goal for these 100 days is to finish all the black.

Ice Princess ~ progress

Last night I finished my rotation on Ice Princess.

There is a lot of confetti stitches in her hair so my progress is slower than usual. My goal is to finish her by the end of 2018 *finger crossed*

WIPocalypse - January update

It's time to show my progress on my WIPocalypse projects.

This month I've worked on three pieces. Two HAED, Ice Princess and QS Snowflake Wonder, and started Into the Jungle the new SAL by The Frosted Pupkin Stitchery.

Progress as of January 7th
Progress as of January 27th
Progress as of January 7th
Progress as of January 27th
Progress as of January 7th
Progress as of January 27th

The question for this month is:

"January 27 – What SAL’s are you participating in this year? and If you are participating in the Olympic Stitching Challenge, what challenge are you accepting?  What are your goals?"

This year I will be participating in two SAL (at least for now). The first one is Into the Jungle by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery of which I already finished the first block and the other one is Farmhouse Christmas by Little House Needleworks.

And no, I won't be participating in the Olympic Stitching Challenge.

IHSW ~ QS Heather

This weekend I signed up for the International Hermit & Stitch Weekend. My weekend was pretty busy so I only picked up my stitching yesterday. I worked on QS Heather, mostly on her skin. I have to order some threads to complete page 1 but in the meantime I'll work on page 2.

~~~~~oOo~~~~~
Este fin de semana me anoté para participar en el ISHW. Tuve un fin un poco ajetreado por lo que sólo pude coger mi bordado anoche. Avancé la piel de la cara de QS Heather, tengo que pedir algunos hilos para poder completar la página 1 pero mientras tanto comenzaré a avanzar la segunda :)
February IHSW
This is what I worked on this past weekend during the IHSW. On Friday, I worked on QS Heather. I love working on her! I feel I accomplished a lot during my stitching session :)
Este fin de semana fue el IHSW y esto es lo que logré avanzar. El viernes, avancé QS Heather. Me encanta trabajar en ella! Estoy muy contenta con lo que completé esa noche :)
Before IHSW
QS Heather ~ Day 10
After IHSW
QS Heather ~ Day 11
And on Saturday and Sunday I worked on a puppet I'm making for my daughter's kindergarten. It's going to be a puppet of Elmo.
Sábado y domingo avancé un titere que estoy haciendo para la guarderia de mi hija. El titere será de Elmo.
WiP ~ Elmo Puppet
I'm really happy with what I acomplished ... it's was a pretty busy weekend (took my daughter for her Hepatitis A vaccine, went shopping for school supplies and on Sunday went to the beach with my sister), so when I picked up my crafts by the end of the day I was pretty tired and could only manage and hour or so of crocheting.
A pesar que fue un fin de semana bastante ocupado (llevé a mi hija a vacunar contra la Hepatitis A, fui a comprar útiles escolares, y el domingo a la playa con mi hermana) y cuando cogía mis labores al final del día estaba bastante cansada y sólo podía hacerlo por una hora o así estoy muy contenta con los avances que logré :)
Aqui una foto de mi hijita con su "tia Cayol" ;)
Little progress and TUSAL
QS Heather ~  day 7This weekend a added a few more stitches on QS Heather. I'll keep working on her a few more days and see if I can finish at least half the first page this month ;)
Este fin de semana añadí algunas puntadas más a QS Heather. Continuaré con ella por unos días más, a ver si completó al menos la mitad de la primera hoja este mes ;)
Today is the TUSAL day, so here es how my jar looks so far :)
Hoy es el día para postear nuestra foto para el TUSAL, así es cómo se ve mi cajita hasta ahora :)
