Wordsworth

I finished stitching Wordsworth's Christmas Cheer on Friday, I really enjoyed this project and even liked to do the backstitch. It's done on linen using Anchor threads, and added three small buttons as hollyberries. This is the second Wordsworth I've stitched (here is a pic of the first one) , the first one was a birthday gift for my daddy and this one is a new addition to his small collection hehe . I didn't want to frame it, but wasn't sure how t0 finish it, finally I decided I was going to finish it as a pillow. The previous pillow I'd made was hand-sewed this time I did it with a sewing machine...I had no idea how to use it and it took me all Sunday afternoon to finish it...but final result looks OK not as great as I had imagined. Maybe I'll do better next time.

There is a pic of the pillow:

Our little nephew °Ü°

Today my brother and his wife welcomed their first child, Joaquin . He was born by c-section at 8.10 am and weighted 2800 grs. He's so tiny and cute...now we're trying to figure out if he looks like his daddy or mommy. He is the first baby for both families so everybody is really excited, including the new aunties of course .

Meet the proud parents :

I've finished the name sign :)

On Sunday night I finished "Gabriela" . I wasn't sure where and how to stitch the birth date , so finally I decided to keep it simply and just backstitch it. I added a little bee that I had in my stash, I think it looks cute. I'm very pleased with the way it turned out and the framer liked it too...so we're both happy!

E.T.A. Si Nela, el español es mi lengua materna. Y la abejita es una aplicación que tenía entre mis cosas y que se supone es para scrapbook; yo decidí usarlo aquí y lo pegue con silicona caliente.

WIP - Gabriela

This is my progress on the name sign...after I posted the previous pic I notice that the letter G was not in the right position so I had to "frog" the whole letter ... oh well I think everything is Ok now.
I had to scan it this time, so the colors are all not as how you see them IRL. I think I'll finish it by the end of the week and on Monday I'll work again on Wordsworth - Christmas Cheers.
For those who are wondering, Carol is still stitching on the afghan. She has very little free time so she only works on it on Sundays.

Name Sign - Gabriela

This is my weekend progress on "Gabriela", a name sign I'm stitching for my framer's newborn niece. The color of letters was chosen by her to match those of the baby's bedroom. What’s left to stitch is a little bunny, in the original design the bunny was holding the letter "Q" but I adapted it to hold the "G".

How do you secure your thread when you begin a new one? Specifically, do you or have you ever used a waste knot?
I've never used the waste knot method. I usually start my thread using the loop method, and to finish it I run the thread under 3 or 4 stitches

Bouncing Babies & Buttons - Framed

Yesterday I picked up "Bouncing Babies & Buttons", I think it turn out ok. I can't manage to take a picture that shows well the color of the mat but you get the idea
The framer has asked me to stitch something for her. She has a newborn niece and wants me to stitch her name so she can frame it. I've chosen to do it using the designs from the book "Honey Pots Alphabet" by DMC. I want to have is done ASAP, I'm kind of worried of getting bored and not being able to finish it..hopefully that won't happen

Wordsworth - Christmas Cheers

I started a new project last week; it's Wordsworth from WOCS #116.
I have subscriptions to 4 cross stitch magazines (The Gift of Stitching, WOCS, Cross Stitcher and Quick and Easy), so my list of things I want to stitch from them is really long, that's why I decided I was going to start stitching some of them, Wordsworth is one of that list.
On Tuesday I went to the framer to get the baby sampler framed, I tried to convince her to have it done by Saturday morning but I had no luck, she told me she needed a week
Today I received some cute fabrics I bought last week. I'm decided to learn new techniques to finish my projects so I think these fabrics will come in handy later on.

Baby Sampler is Finished

Well things didn't go as planned and I couldn't finish the baby sampler on Saturday ...but I did finish it today.
Tomorrow I'll go beg the framer to have it done on Saturday morning.

I went to different craft stores and couldn't find the buttons I originally wanted for this design, so I used the ones I had in my stash.
When I was in search of my buttons, I noticed in a craft store that they were selling illegal copies of Leisure Art patterns !!! They even have them on display...I was so
mad and decided never to shop in that store again. I think I'll call copyright authorities of Peru tomorrow; hopefully they will do something about it.

WIP - Bouncing Babies & Buttons

I started another project...it's a baby sampler by Gail Bussi that came in Cross Stitcher #170 (Feb 2006).
My SIL's Baby Shower is on November 25th and I wanted to give her something for the baby done by me, so I went through my magazines and decided to do this design. I want to have it finished by Saturday morning and immediately take it to the framer because she usually needs a whole week to have it done.
The picture shows my progress of one evening.

Do you stitch Christmas ornaments? If so, how many do you stitch each year and for whom? If not, why not?
Never done one, I have to learn some finishing techniques first.

A bigger Biscornu

Thanks a lot for your comments about my biscornu...but guess what...it was too small!!
On Tuesday I gave Carol the biscornu but when she saw it she said that she really liked it but the one she needed had to be at least twice that size So then I had to do another one, this time the design I chose was 60w x 60h. I was to lazy to think of another color of fabric and thread so I chose the same one as my first biscornu.
Sandra, my SIL, saw the first one and thought it was really cute, so she decided to keep it.

This is Mylo (our 4 month old yorkie) modeling for the camera with the second bicornu.

Blue Biscornu

This is the first time I've stitched a biscornu, I really enjoyed doing it . When I saw them on blogs I thought they were difficult to make. Carol told me she needed a pincushion so I decided to do one for her .
I used a piece of 18ct Aida that Carol dyed a while ago. The size of the design is 30h x 30w and it took me 3 hours to stitch and an extra hour to turn it into a biscornu.
I'm going to stitch some more of these, maybe on linen and with speciality threads .

Birth Announcement

Well as Carol already mentioned my brother and his wife are expecting a baby boy, so I decided I was going to stitch them a Birth Announcement. The design I've chose to stitch is Baby's Friends by Dimensions.
This whole year I've not been in the mood to stitch...but finally I think this is changing. I'm hoping to finish this project by the end of November...well lets see how that goes.
The picture shows my progress after approximately 12 hours of stitching .

Hi again :)

Hi everyone! I'm Carol's twin sister Carla...Some of you might remember me, I used to post here but when I began to study my MBA I just didn't have enough time to stitch. I've recently finished my studies so I finally have some time to stitch again. In the last few days I've finished this cute cat by Margaret Sherry, it is a gift for one of my classmates.

I've also started Richard by Maria van Scharrenburg. Here is a pic of my progress so far. I'm going to rotate this with HAED's Enchantment.

Adress Book

This is a small design I made as a cover for my mom's adress book. I got this design from one of my magazines (WOCS #096 (Apr. 2005)). It took me about 7 hrs to stitch...because I've not been stitcing lately I've become very slow at doing it

Carol help me to put it all together...well she actually did it all, I just watch her
