This week progress...

Before I go to bed I wanted to show you what I've been working on this week. The first one is a Mystery SAL published by Pamela Kellogg for Valentines. I'm missing some of the threads to complete the central rose but still I think I made great progress. There are a lot of color changes on this designs ( a LOT!) which is driving me a little bit nuts because the back is looking a little bit messy .

Antes de irme a la cama queria enseñarles mis avances de esta semana. El primero es el Mystery SAL publicado por Pamela Kellogg para San Valentin. Me faltan algunos hilos para completar la rosa central pero igual creo que hecho un buen progreso en esta labor. Este diseño tiene muchísimos cambios de color lo que me esta volviendo loca pues el reverso de la labor me esta quedando un poco desordenado .

And also this week I finished the second block of the Lizzie*Kate series. I'm enjoying a lot this series!!!

These were my goals for February:
1. Mail Nela's exchange - Mailed and received!
2. Stitch/finish a birthday gift for my partner in the SBBC - Not finished yet...I'm running out of time on this one!
3. Stitch "Love" for the Lizzie Kate SAL - Yes!!
4. Continue with my 10 hour rotation - Yep!
5. Participate on this month's Stitch-A-Thon - Yes!

Estas fueron mis metas para febrero:
1. Enviar el intercambio para Nela - Enviado y recibido!
2. Bordar/terminar el regalo de cumpleaños para mi compañero en el grupo SBBC - Aún no lo termino...tengo que apurarme pues pronto es la fecha limite para el envio!
3. Bordar "Love" para el SAL de Lizzie Kate - Si!
4. Continuar con mi rotación de 10 horas - Sip!
5. Participar en la maratón puntocrucera de este mes - Si!

Personal Exchange with Nela

Yesterday Nela wrote me to let me know she had received the package I sent her at the beginning of the month...can't believe it took so long , Venezuela is not that far from Peru!!

As I said on my previous post Nela and I agreed to make an ortbag for each other...here is the one I made for her. This is the first time I make one of this and there are a lot of things that can be improved for the next one I make, but overall I think it doesn't look bad . On the pincushion I stitched her name with an alphabet I found in a magazine and added a little ribbon where she can put her scissors.

Ayer Nela me escribio para hacerme saber que había recibido el paquete que le envie a comienzos de mes...no puedo creer que tomara tanto tiempo en llegar, Venezuela no esta tan lejos de Perú!!

Como dije en mi post anterior, Nela y yo acordamos intercambiar un ortbag...este es el que le hice yo a ella. Es el primero que hago así que hay varios defectillos que se deben mejorar en los que haga en un futuro, pero igual creo que para ser el primero no me quedo tan mal. En el cojin borde su nombre usando un alfabeto que encontre en una revista y le puse una pequeña cinta para que pueda colocar sus tijeras.

Gifts from Nela

Look what the mailman just brought me!!

Earlier this year, Nela and I agreed to do a personal exchange; we agreed to do an ort-bag for each other. I just received the one she made for me...isn't it beautiful?? I love it! Love all the little details she added...I think it looks very delicate. She tells me that she hand-sew it and that's it's the first time she makes one...it's perfect!!

I hope she receives the one a made for her soon.

Miren lo que me acaba de traer el cartero!!

A comienzo de año Nela y yo acordamos hacer un intercambio personal para el cual intercambiariamos un "ort-bag". Acabo de recibir el que ella hizo para mí...no les parece lindo?? Me encantaaaa!! Miren todos los detallitos que le ha puesto, se ve muy delicado, no? Me cuenta que lo ha cosido todo a mano y que es la primera vez que hace uno....pues esta perfecto, no le falta ningún detalle!

Some progress....

Following my 10hr rotation, last week I managed to make some progress on two wips...here is an updated pic of The Guardian, as I said before this I'm stitching this piece for my dad I wanted to have it done and framed for his 60th birthday (March 5th) but as you can see there is no way I'll finished it on time...I guess it will be his gift for Father's Day in June .

Siguiendo con mi rotación, la semana pasada avance un poco dos wips...el primero, una foto actualizada de The Guardian, como ya lo he mencionado antes este lo estoy bordando para mi papá. Inicialmente iba a ser un regalo para su cumpleaños número 60 (marzo 5) pero como pueden ver no hay forma de que lo termine a tiempo...supongo que será entonces su regalo por el Día del Padre en junio .

The other project I worked on is Back on the Road Again, a Mystery SAL by Helga Mandl and Barbara Ana. Ther whole design has already been released but I'm still working on part 1 .

SBEBB Valentine Exchange for CathyB

Yesterday I received a lovely email from Cathy letting me know she received her Valentine exchange. I made her a pinkeep using a design for this year's Lizzie*Kate series. By the time I stitched it, I didn't have the threads that the chart called for, so I went with my own color conversion based on the photo in the chart, I used DMC939 for the letters and Crescent Colours for the rest ( Eve's Leaves, Weeping Willow, Cherry Tomato and Carrie Berry).

This was my first happy dance of 2008...I'm glad I can finally show it :)

Ayer recibí un lindo email de Cathy, haciendome saber que había recibido el intercambio que le envie por San Valentín. Le hice un pinkeep usando un diseño de la nueva serie anual de Lizzie*Kate. Cuando lo estaba bordando no tenía los hilos que indicaba el gráfico así que hice mi propia conversion basada en la foto del gráfico; usé DMC 939 para las letras y Crescent Colours para el resto (Eve's Leaves, Weeping Willow, Cherry Tomato y Carry Berry).

Este fue mi primera labor terminada del 2008...me alegra que finalmente la pueda mostrar :)

Lovebird

On the weekend I stitched and finished a little freebie I found on Midsummer Night Designs blog. Carol asked me to stitch her something for Valentines so I decided to do this one for her and finish it as a small ornie. I did it on 32ct linen 1 over 1, it's the first time I stitch a design completely over 1, it took me a while to get used to those tiny stitches but at the end I like how it looks.

I also wanted to thank you for all the lovely comments you've left me lately...I really enjoy reading what you think about my stitching.

Este fin de semana bordé y terminé este freebie que encontré en el blog de Midsummer Night Designs. Carol me pidio que le bordara algo por San Valentín así que me decidí por este diseño y lo terminé como un adornito. Lo he realizado en lino 32ct 1 sobre 1; es la primera vez que bordo un diseño completo sobre 1, al principio me costo un poco pero a medida que avanzaba ya me iba adaptando a esas pequeñas cruces y me gusta como ha quedado al final.

También queria agradecerles por todos los comentarios que me han dejado últimamente...me gusta saber qué es lo que piensan acerca de mis bordados.

Valentine Exchange from Carol *Ü*

Lookie look what I received from Carol for the SBEBB Valentine Exchange! She made a lovely pinkeep using one of Lizzie*Kate's designs, February Blocks, she stitched it on 28ct Light Mocha Cashel with GAST, WDW and DMC threads. Donp't you think is lovely?....I love it!

Miren lo que recibí de Carol para el intercambio de San Valentin del foro SBEBB!! Me envió un lindo pinkeep que realizó usando uno de los diseños de Lizzie*Kate, February Blocks, lo bordó en 28ct Light Mocha Cashel usando hilos GAST, WDW y DMC. No les parace lindo? ...me encanta!

Carol also sent me lots of extra goodies! Two beautiful charts, variation threads in my favorite color PINK!, mints and sweets, and a beautiful piece of fabric...a couple of days ago I had left a comment on her blog saying that I loved the fabric she used for one of her finishes...who knew I was going to receive a cut of THAT fabric!!

Carol también me envió varias cosillas junto con el pinkeep. Dos lindos patrones, hilos DMC variation en mi color favorito ROSA!, mentas y dulces, y una linda telita...hace unos días le había dejado un comentario en su blog diciendole que me parecia muy linda la tela que habia usado en uno de acabados...quién iba a imaginarse que ella me estaba enviando un pedazo de esa tela!!

A finish and February goals

Last night I finished Princess and the P! I started it on New Year's day, it's a cute design and lot of fun to stitch too! The doggie reminds me of Lulu, my mom's dog, which Carol and I used to call Principessa (Italian for princess ).

Anoche terminé Princess and the P! Esta labor la comencé el día de Año Nuevo, es un diseño muy tierno y entretenido de bordar! La perrita me recuerda a Lulu, la perra de mamá, a la que Carol y yo llamabamos Principessa (princesa en italiano ).
